We first sailed on Independence of the Seas in August 2017. This was our first cruise experience. We enjoyed it so much that we sailed on Independence of the Seas three times since. We really enjoyed Independence of the Seas with amazing venues and entertainment and the great standards and service offered by Royal Caribbean.
This gives a brief overview of Independence of the Seas. Subsequent blogs will look at various aspects in more detail.

Independence of the Seas is one of the most popular ships in Royal Caribbean’s fleet. It provides an array of activities, a range of restaurants and a variety of entertainment. The 154,407 ton ship carries about 4,300 passengers. It entered service in 2008 and was refurbished in 2018.
Independence of the Seas offers a wide range of dining options from the Main Dining Room, Windjammer Café buffet (both included in the cruise fare) to sophisticated à la carte restaurants (available at an extra cost). These include Johnny Rockets (an American diner), Chop's Grille (steaks and seafood), Giovanni's Table (Italian cuisine) and Izumi (Japanese cuisine).
There is plenty of entertainment on board Independence of the Seas. This includes
daily quizzes, FlowRider, a rock climbing wall and The Observatorium offering an escape room. The Theatre hosts top quality shows with a live orchestra, guest entertainers and the West End show Grease, which sadly is coming to a close. There is an opportunity for shopping in the on board shops.
Independence of the Seas has a range of bars and lounges. These include the Champagne Bar (quiet and elegant), Vintages Wine Bar, Bolero's Lounge (with Latin rhythms and plenty of rum-based cocktails) and the Schooner Bar (relaxed with a nautical theme). The 2018 refurbishment included the addition of Playmakers Sports Bar & Arcade.
Those looking for rest and relaxation will find plenty available in the spa and fitness facilities. There is also the opportunity to maintain your fitness with the gym facilities.
